The Yorkshire Pig Company
Our Pigs and Pork
The New Zealand Kune Kune Pig is not widely known for its prodigious pork, probably because largely speaking it's usually overfed and therefore lays down too much fat. A controlled diet over seven months will see these pigs yield some 30 – 35 kg of high quality pork. The meat is a rich dark colour with glorious taste and texture. Absolutely nothing like the shop bought mush, a generous but not excessive rind of fat imparts extra flavour during cooking. Especially useful to those who want quality pork but perhaps lack the freezer space necessary for the larger pig product.

Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs are one of the oldest of our native traditional breeds and an ideal docile smallholders pig. The large breeds of pig generally finish for pork in the 50 – 60 kg bracket. If this quantity of pork sounds excessive, halves may be available, alternatively share a whole pig with your mates. Once again the meat is really worth raving about, we are no food luvvies but guarantee for those of you who haven't tried traditional pork, there won't be any going back.
We feed our pigs with a combination of milled feeds and locally sourced barley and vegetable produce. Our feedstuffs do not contain medicine or growth hormones Local abattoirs are used thus keeping food miles to a minimum, all butchering work is carried out to the highest standard by licensed practitioners. We receive the product back nicely presented, bagged and labeled in half pig boxes.
As a guide we sell to the customer at £4.75 per kilo a very favourable price considering the cost of similar commercially available products.
